Called a 'cheater' by Dustin poirier after the UFC 281, Michael chandler defended himself against the accusations of his last rival. In a press conference after the show last Saturday (12), 'Iron' admitted that he was upset by the former interim champion's statements, acknowledged that he carried out some of the actions, but denied that he had done them intentionally.

“Yes, I admit his mouth was open, my hand went in there, it was on his mouth guard and he bit it. It was just the angle. When the referee said I was hitting him on the back of the head, at least in my mind, I was grabbing his ear. Everyone knows I'm not a cheater. I love this game. I don't cheat. I have a rocket in my nose to stop the bleeding. If I wanted to breathe, that blood needed to come out. So it wasn’t a malicious, weird thing,” Chandler said.
'Iron' admitted that he was upset by his rival's accusations and accused him of being rude to him after the fight.
“It’s between me and him. I'm a man of my word. I said win, lose or draw, I would shake his hand and be respectful afterwards. Something was said that I really didn't like, so we're still friends, enemies, whatever. He wasn't as elegant in victory as I would have liked. Don’t have expectations of other people, they will always disappoint you”, concluded Mike.
Number five in the lightweight rankings, Chandler is going through a difficult time in his career with three defeats in his last four fights. The 36-year-old American has a record in the sport of 23 triumphs and eight setbacks.
