Almost five years after stepping into the Octagon for the last time, Georges St-Pierre is finally free of his ties to the UFC. The former welterweight (up to 77kg) and middleweight (up to 83,9kg) champion participated in the promotion of the boxing match between Anderson Silva e Jake Paul, held last Saturday (29), and revealed the end of his contract with Ultimate.

“I am now free from my contract with the UFC. I am out. I couldn't be here today if I was under contract with the UFC. They might be upset that I'm here, but I am because now I have the freedom to do whatever I do, with whoever I want, whenever I want. If I wanted, I could compete in boxing. Never say Never. If it's for a good cause, if it's well organized, who knows? I could go boxing or grappling. Who knows? But my days of trying to prove I'm the strongest guy in the world are over. I have other priorities in life. I'm still training, I'm still doing well. When I train with other guys, I still do well, but my heart is not there anymore,” said Georges St-Pierre at a press conference.

Despite admitting that he may return to competing in combat sports, Georges St-Pierre sees his future as far away from MMA.

“I can compete, because I'm in the entertainment business, in boxing, in grappling, something safer than MMA. Not MMA. Something safer, with less risk, because I have a lot more to lose and it is no longer my priority,” he declared.
