Brazilian participation in the UFC Las Vegas 61 started off on the right foot. Or rather, with the right knee. The country's first representative at the event, lightweight (up to 70,3kg) Joaquim Silva, the “Netto BJJ” knocked out Jesse Ronson with a beautiful flying knee. After shaking his rival with the same blow at the end of the first round, the Goiás native repeated the dose in the second round and concluded the job with a sequence of “sledgehammers” to achieve victory.

As a result, Netto BJJ wins again in Ultimate after almost four years. The Brazilian was coming off two consecutive defeats in the organization, in addition to successive injuries that took him out of action for much of the last few years.

THE FIGHT

Jesse Ronson started the duel with a side stomp on the waistline of Netto BJJ, who responded with a high kick to the Canadian's guard. Ronson unleashed another stomp, this time on the Brazilian's knee, who again kicked high. A kick from Netto exploded into Ronson's torso. The Canadian landed a good jab on the Brazilian's face. Netto BJJ he blocked a shot from Ronson and connected with a well-aimed cross to the Canadian's face, who retreated. Next, Ronson attacked well with a straight left. In the final seconds of the round, Netto BJJ he connected a good sequence of crosses, finished with a flying knee, which took Ronson to the ground, but the Canadian was saved by the bell.
