With the wisdom of someone who has been through a similar situation, former welterweight champion (up to 77,1kg) Georges St-Pierre gave his opinion on the future of Kamaru Usman. Speaking to the press before the UFC Paris, which takes place next Saturday (03), the Canadian mentioned that the Nigerian's confidence will be a 'crucial factor' in him being able to regain the belt in the rematch against Leon edwards and said he is eager to know at what level he will return to the Octagon.

“Kamaru was winning the fight, but he made a crucial mistake that is unforgettable at this level. He 'zigzagged' when he should have and credit to Leon edwards. It was a beautiful knockout. It was incredible and he won the world title. Now they're going to have a rematch, I hope, and we'll see. Things change. You never fight the same fighter twice. You can fight the same name twice, but you will never fight the same fighter twice. Every fight leaves a scar, for better or worse”, said 'GSP'.

The Canadian said that there are fighters who feel their confidence is affected after being defeated and emphasized that Usman needs to remain firm to be able to perform well in the rematch against Edwards.

“After a defeat, we often see fighters whose confidence is affected. Confidence is very important for a fighter, because you can have all the skills in the world, but if you don't have confidence, it's like someone who has a lot of money in their bank account, but has no way of accessing it. So, for the magic to happen, you need skills and confidence. So let's see how mentally strong Kamaru Usman Yeah, and if he comes back and wins the title, I think it will add to his legacy even more. But it’s going to be quite a fight, quite a challenge”, concluded the Canadian.
