In the main confrontation of 'Thompson Boxing', Ruben Torres takes advantage of Cristian Baez's carelessness and leads to an overwhelming outcome

A brutal outcome in the main fight of 'Thompson Boxing', held last Saturday (20), in Corona (USA), has attracted attention in the world of martial arts. In a boxing match contested at lightweight (up to 61kg), Cristian Baez ended up overcoming with a devastating knockout after letting his guard down to greet his rival Ruben Torres, a promise of the 'noble art'. The episode happened in the seventh round.

In the images (see below), it is possible to see that, moments before the impactful scene, Baez was already suffering from pressure from his opponent. Close to receiving the final attack, the Venezuelan was recovering from a knockdown, which preceded the knockout.

Standing after the referee opened the count, Cristian took advantage of the gap to touch gloves with Ruben. Torres, however, took advantage of his opponent's low guard and connected with a clean cross, which immediately 'erased' Baez.

Unable to continue in the confrontation, the Venezuelan ended up overmatched. The setback marked the boxer's second stumble in 20 appearances in the 'noble art'.

In an interview after the knockout, Ruben explained that there was no unsportsmanlike conduct. Loudly, the fighter pointed out his positioning.

“Rule number one in boxing: protect yourself at all times,” he said into the microphone.

Promise in boxing, Torres extended his unbeaten record in the sport. With the positive result, the 24-year-old athlete reached his 19th consecutive victory.
