The star card of UFC 278 will give further proof that MMA has truly become a global sport. In the octagon set up at the Vivint Arena, in Salt Lake City, Utah (USA), 24 athletes from 13 different nationalities will pass, with the United States and Brazil leading with seven and five fighters, respectively. The UFC's host country, the United States still leads the number of representatives on the UFC card. UFC 278 with seven athletes. Luke Rockhold, Harry Hunsucker, Jared gordon, Sean Woodson, Luís Saldaña, AJ Fletcher e Jay Perrin will fly the 'Land of Uncle Sam' flag in the Octagon set up in Salt Lake City.
Brazil will be the second country with the most athletes represented in next Saturday's event. Paulo borrachinha, José Aldo, Leonardo Santos, Francisco Figueredo e Daniel Miojo will be the five responsible for defending the 'Brazilian Squadron' in the octagon of UFC 278.
The other countries represented will be China ( Yanan Wu e Aoriqileng), Nigeria (Kamaru Usman) Jamaica (Leon edwards), Georgia (Merab Dvalishivili), Czech Republic (Lucie Padilova), Australia (Tyson Peter), Poland (Marcin tybura), Moldova (Alexander Romanov), Switzerland (Ange Lossa), Sweden (amir albazi) and Mexico (Victor Altamirano).
In the main fight UFC 278, the Nigerian Kamaru Usman will put his welterweight belt on the line against the Jamaican Leon edwards. The two athletes have already faced each other once, in December 2015, and the current champion won by unanimous decision from the judges.
