the duel between Jorge masvidal and Ben Askren was one of the most anticipated clashes of that UFC 239, and, on the event card, it was placed below only the two title fights. For the light heavyweight division (up to 93kg), Jon Jones was making his second title defense in his new reign, against the Brazilian Thiago Marreta. In the co-main fight, Amanda nunes fought to defend her rooster throne (up to 61,2kg) against the veteran Holly holm.

When the bell sounded authorizing the start of the duel, Askren immediately tried to get into the legs of Masvidal, who, aware of the strong point of his rival's game, adjusted his body and landed a flying knee that caught the former ONE champion squarely. Ben was already 'blacked out' and Jorge applied two blows just as a 'check' until the central referee stopped the fight. 'GameBred' beat his rival in an incredible five seconds and won the award for the fastest knockout in UFC history.

After knocking out Askren, Masvidal fought Nate diaz and after winning due to medical interruption, he won the 'BMF' belt (most tough fighter). Jorge then fought twice for the welterweight belt and was defeated both times by the champion. Kamaru Usman. Afterwards, 'GameBred' suffered another setback, this time for his former friend and training partner Colby covington. The North American has a record of 35 positive results and 16 negative results in the sport.
