Featured in UFC 276, which takes place this Saturday (2), Israel adesanya momentarily 'forgot' the challenge against Jared Cannonier and cited again Jon Jones. Close to a new middleweight belt defense (up to 83,9kg), the Nigerian reinforced his desire to face the living legend of MMA and surprised him by sending advice to his possible rival.

“Firstly, he must move up a category (test himself in the heavyweight division). Go, he faces Francis (Ngannou) and stops and makes the news (outside the Octagon). Get your head straight,” said Adesanya, in a promotional press conference for the UFC 276.

Willing to test himself against one of the best fighters of all time, Israel stated that he has been a better representative of the sport than Jon. The athlete talks about consistency in his career.

“I am the athlete who is fighting, staying active, moving up a category. I'm not just talking. I will do this again (test in new division). I’m expanding my own legacy and just worrying about myself now,” he concluded.

Middleweight champion since 2019, Adesanya could reach the mark of five title defenses, if he wins Jared Cannonier on July 2nd. 'Bones', in turn, has not fought since February 2020. After relinquishing the light heavyweight title (up to 93kg) that season, the fighter began the preparation process for his debut in the up to 120,2kg category. The athlete, however, does not have a confirmed date or opponent.
