It was a show. Khabib's cousin, Umar Nurmagomedov gave a show of technique in grappling to overcome Nate Maness. Biggest favorite of the night, the Russian confirmed his superiority and dominated the North American for three rounds, in a fight at UFC Las Vegas 57 this Saturday (25). The fight was valid in the bantamweight division (up to 62,1kg).

Undefeated in his career, Umar achieved his 15th victory in his career in MMA, the seventh being by decision of the judges. He started fighting in 2016 and has now moved closer to the rankings in the category led by aljamain sterling.

Maness loses for the first time in the organization and has a streak of four victories broken. Professional since 2013, the North American has 14 positive results and two negative results.

The fight

Maness was feeling good in his striking, but he saw Umar approach and get a takedown directly in the center of the cage. Under Khabib's guidance, the Russian locked the back of his head and threw traumatic blows at his opponent in the grappling fight.

If it worked, with the name 'Nurmagomedov', Umar found it easy to come out on top once again. In technique, the Russian dominated Maness's shoulder and moved to half guard. Khabib's cousin weighed in, threw good shots and didn't let his opponent get out of position. He still managed to land hard blows before the round ended.

Willing to go 'all or nothing' in the third round, Nate tried to shorten it, but received a bomb with a stomp from Umar. The Russian, in addition to frustrating, easily placed the North American on his back and applied good elbows from a dominant position. He remained in guard until the end and chose not to attempt submissions, nor did he take any risks to leave with his 'arms raised'.
