In a press conference held after the UFC Las Vegas 51, Michael Pereira surprised by pointing out the reason behind the challenge made to Jorge masvidal right after the victory over Santiago Ponzinibbio. On that occasion, the “Flying Paraense” accused the American of sending an “emoji” to his wife and stated that he would like to resolve the matter inside the octagon. The Brazilian's accusation did not go unanswered by “Gamebred”.

Last Sunday night, through social media, Jorge masvidal spoke out on the matter, called Michael Pereira as an “idiot” and claimed that it was the Brazilian’s wife who contacted him. To top it off, the North American published a “print” of the supposed exchange of messages.
“How crazy the world is and how much our society has fallen to this idiot (Michael Pereira) use his wife to maybe one day get a payment and create a false narrative to try to fight me when he clearly sees her coming in my private messages? I wish you the best #coupletherapy”, wrote Masvidal when publishing the “print”.

With the victory over Santiago Ponzinibbio, 14th in the welterweight rankings, the tendency is that, in the next update of the list, Michael Pereira finally debuts in the top 15 of the division, “stealing” the Argentine’s place. Jorge masvidal is eighth in the category, but comes from three consecutive defeats.
