“I believe that when father (Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who passed away in 2020) said we were supposed to compete. I would love to be able to do a coaching competition with him (Khabib) on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF). What about? The best team wins”, suggested Tony.

Even without the intention of measuring strength with Nurmagomedov in the octagon, Ferguson believes that a duel between coaches could, in a way, prove who is the best among the lightweight icons (up to 70,3 kg.). Confident of his ability to transfer knowledge, the 'Bogeyman' guarantees that he would get the better of the Russian, who has dedicated himself to guiding athletes towards stardom at AKA (American kickboxing Academy).

“I guarantee that my way of training is better than yours, Khabib. Not everyone understands this. (…) I put together a team for 12 consecutive victories and I can do it again”, said Ferguson, who won TUF 13.

Former interim lightweight champion, Tony had five clashes with Khabib cancelled. Even insisting on dueling with the Russian, albeit alternatively, the North American guarantees that there are no disagreements between the parties.

“I have nothing personal against him, even though he ran away from combat due to the pandemic and is fearful. I need to respect your family first,” he concluded.

Considered one of the best lightweight representatives in UFC history, Ferguson is going through his worst moment in the company. After the setback against Michael chandler, 'Bicho Papão' reached the mark of four consecutive defeats and, today, occupies 10th position in the category.
