With kick à la Anderson Silva, Michael Chandler erases Tony Ferguson in historic knockout at UFC 274

Simply brutal. Aggressive opponent Tony Ferguson No. UFC 274, held this Saturday (7), in Phoenix (USA), Michael chandler he made his rival taste his own medicine, and in an epic way. After a scare in the first round, the former Bellator champion found victory with a shot of rare happiness, a la Anderson Silva. The attack in the second stage led to the veteran's immediate knockout.

With the result, Chandler can breathe a sigh of relief again in Ultimate. The athlete entered the octagon under pressure for a triumph, as he had two stumbles in a row.

In the search for a career recovery, Ferguson continues without repeating the good performances that made him one of the most feared lightweights (up to 70,3kg) in the history of the sport. With the mishap, the veteran reached the mark of four consecutive defeats.

In an interview after the triumph, Michael dared. The athlete suggested a rematch against Charles of the Bronx, in addition to challenging Conor McGregor, who is recovering from a serious injury suffered in July 2021.

The fight

The confrontation began with the athletes launching long-range attacks. Ferguson launched a high kick, which stopped in his opponent's guard. Chandler attacked with a low kick, followed by a direct kick. After just over a minute, Ferguson knocked Michael off balance with a direct shot. The 'Bicho Papão' tried to take advantage of the good moment, while the rival tried to absorb the attack. Tony's jabs and punches touched Chandler's face, who threw the blows. At a disadvantage in the exchange, Michael went for the veteran's legs and took the fight to the ground. Even from below, Tony was in danger, and was trying an armbar. Michael tried to punish with ground and pound, but he needed to be careful with his opponent's attacks. The round ended with Chandler attacking with ground and pound and Ferguson trying to stop the fight.

In the second round, Chandler connected with a kick of rare happiness, which exploded on Ferguson's chin, who immediately fell unconscious.
