Sheymon Moraes dominates Boston Salmon and debuts with victory in PFL 2022 #2

The second event of the PFL regular season in 2022 is off to a good start for Brazil. In the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg), Sheymon Moraes defeated Boston Salmon in a unanimous decision by the judges (30-27, 30-27, 30-27). The Brazilian dominated the three rounds and started the season with three points.

The victory over Salmon was Sheymon Moraes' third consecutive victory in the Professional Fighters League after the defeat in his debut for the organization, in 2021. Now, the Brazilian has 14 triumphs and five setbacks in his career.

Hired after winning the PFL Challenger Series in March this year, Boston Salmon debuted with a defeat in the regular season. “Boom Boom” now has eight triumphs and four setbacks in his career.

THE FIGHT

After a few seconds of study, Boston Salmon took the initiative and used boxing to close the distance. Sheymon Moraes walked backwards, but managed to grab and waist the American. On his opponent's back, the Brazilian kneed Salmon's thigh, who, after receiving more than 15 blows to his leg, managed to turn around and face Sheymon, but with his back against the cage. After an exchange of forces on the fence, Sheymon managed to put Boston Salmon down, but the North American quickly got up. Salmon tried to free himself from the Brazilian's grip, but was put down again. The two got up and the fight returned to the center of the decagon. Sheymon tried a combination of jab and straight shot, but was left empty. In the final seconds, the Brazilian connected a good combination of a low kick and two crosses.

In the second round, Sheymon Moraes started with a good kick to the waist, but left his face exposed and received a direct shot from Salmon. The Brazilian came in with a direct shot, but received two crosses in response. After a few moments of more frank exchanges, Sheymon closed the distance again and sought a grappling fight. The two separated again and the fight became open again. In the final stretch of the round, Sheymon managed to find good boxing combinations.

Afterwards, Sheymon managed a good takedown and landed in the American's half guard. Using “ground and pound”, Sheymon sought to find an opening to mount his opponent. Boston Salmon managed to get up, but there was no time for anything else.

At the opening of the second event of the 2022 PFL season, Alejandro Flores defeated Saba Bolaghi by unanimous decision from the judges (30-27, 30-27, 29-28) in a duel valid for the featherweight division (up to 65,7 kg). Superior in striking, the Mexican managed to keep the fight standing for most of the time to take the victory and three points in the division tournament.

The victory over Bolaghi was the Mexican's fourth consecutive victory in his career, and his second in the PFL decagon. “El Gallito” now has a record of 20 wins and just three defeats.

On the other side, Saba Bolaghi debuted with a setback for the organization. The 33-year-old German suffered the third defeat of his career, which has 14 wins and one draw.
