Willing to have a chance at the welterweight belt (up to 77kg.), Vincent Luque already think beyond Belal Muhammad |. In an interview with 'ESPN' North American, the Brazilian revealed that he is thinking about challenging Colby covington to move the division led by Kamaru Usman.
“He is first in the rankings and is coming off a victory. I don't know what's going to happen in the (welterweight) division until I fight and after I fight, so it could be a good fight for me. I can secure the #1 contender and get a title shot. So, we have to see what will happen”, said Luque.
To do this, Luque needs to go through Belal Muhammad |, in a rematch that takes place on April 16th. He, however, reinforces that he does not like Covington's attitudes, but recognizes his technical quality.
“I don’t like his personality, I don’t like who he is as a person outside the octagon, but I respect him as a fighter. He's a tough guy. He goes out there and really puts his heart into the fight. So I think it would be an incredible fight. He would try to hit me and I would try to finish him off,” he concluded.
Fourth in the ranking, Vincent Luque is experiencing an enlightened moment, with four consecutive victories. In his career, so far, there are 27 triumphs, seven setbacks and one draw.
