Thiago Marreta was considered a big underdog for the main fight of the UFC Las Vegas 50, but the Brazilian was close to knocking him out  Magomed Ankalayev and break the bank. However, the Russian recovered and managed to win the judges' decision.

The fight was studied from the first to the last second. Ankalaev walked towards the Brazilian, who responded with strong blows. The Russian put on volume, but was caught in a cross at the end of the second round and ended up falling. Marreta was close to a knockout, but his rival was saved by the bell. From then on, Magomed once again controlled the distance, avoiding the power of the Tupiniquim athlete's attacks.
