On April 23rd, Saturday, the Bellator 279 presents the Brazilian legend's fourth belt defense Chris Cyborg, in a rematch against Arlene Blencowe. The veterans faced each other at Bellator 249, in October 2020, and the Brazilian came away with the victory via submission in the second round in her first defense of the featherweight title. Since then, the Australian has won two consecutive fights and qualified for a second chance.
At the same event, bantamweight champion (up to 61,2 kg) Sergio Pettis defends his title against Raufeon Stots in the opening round of the division tournament. In another duel valid for the tournament, Patchy mix faces former champion Kyoji Horiguchi. The tournament's two fights will be fought over five rounds.
The two duels between bantamweights kick off the eight-man tournament for the category belt and a prize of US$1 million (approximately R$5 million).
Bellator 278, to be held one day earlier, on Friday, April 22, has not yet had fights confirmed.
