At the worst moment of his professional MMA career, Tony Ferguson appears to be in search of its former prestige at lightweight (up to 70,3kg.). Willing to show service to Ultimate, the athlete showed regret by ensuring that he was not invited to replace Raphael Fiziev in the fight against Rafael dos Anjos No. UFC 272, which takes place this Saturday (5). The veteran also stated that he was ready to take over as Beneil Dariush against Islam makhachev last weekend.

It is worth remembering that Tony and RDA already shared the octagon on one occasion, in 2016. On that occasion, the North American got the better of the Brazilian, beating Rafael in the judges' decision.

One of the biggest names in lightweight history, Ferguson has not performed since his defeat against Beneil Dariush, in May 2021. Without stepping into the octagon for almost a year, 'Bicho Papão' believes he still has the means to get back on his feet.

Former interim champion of the under-70,3kg category, the fighter remains uncommitted for his debut in the current season. Today, the North American occupies seventh place in the ranking.

Between 2013 and 2019, Tony was included in the select group of longest undefeated streaks in UFC history. With 12 positive results in a row, the athlete is only behind names like Khabib Nurmagomedov (13), Georges St-Pierre (13), Jon Jones (13) Demetrious Johnson (13) Max Holloway (13) Kamaru Usman (15) and Anderson Silva (16)
