MMA legend, José Aldo He wasted no time and responded to the challenge made by Acelino Popó Freitas for a confrontation under boxing rules. Invited by the four-time world champion in the 'noble art' to a clash, after a presentation against Whindersson Nunes, Manauara was open to compromise, but the proposal faces some issues.

Attentive to Acelino's request, Aldo went further and proposed that the legends increase the level of competition. The man from Manaus revealed his interest in bringing a model created in Thailand, which also involves kickboxing, to the eventual duel.
“As soon as the fight ended I saw Popó's challenge and everyone knows that I really want to test myself in the 'noble art', even though, at the moment, my focus is completely focused on becoming UFC champion. At the same time, I found the event interesting for promoting the sport and, as you know, I am also very passionate about kickboxing. I even organized events in the sport. And this was a format that the organizer brought from Thailand, where there are many championships in which you mix boxing and kickboxing, one round of each, I had already seen this and was interested”, said the Ultimate athlete.
The presentation model suggested by José, however, did not seem to be popular. Manauara spoke about the negotiations.
“Right after the fight (between the boxer and Whindersson), Popó’s son sent an email to Dedé (Pederneiras, Aldo’s manager), wanting to see how we could schedule this confrontation, and then we already remembered this idea and suggested it to them. But it seems like they weren't very interested, I don't know if they were scared, but they didn't want it in that format. First of all, I need a release from the UFC for this to happen,” he stated.
With or without kickboxing, Aldo is in. Depending, of course, on the 'ok' from Dana White and his team, the featherweight legend (up to 65,7kg) has one last condition, which is, perhaps, the most important for facing Popó.
“If it has to be in boxing, I would do it too. There's just one thing: I don't do exhibition fights. For me, it would have to be a fight with professional rules and approved by a League, in fact, I am part of an organization that is setting up a boxing league. It could be because of her.
