Five reasons to watch UFC 269, with Do Bronx and Amanda Nunes defending belts

The moment that many fans have been waiting for has arrived. This Saturday (11), in Las Vegas (USA), Charles of the Bronx e Amanda nunes headline the last numbered event of the 2021 season and try to maintain their reigns in the organization. Brazilian stars have tough commitments against Dustin poirier e Julianna Pena, in a spectacle with 15 confirmed clashes.

The favorite of Brazilian fans, Do Bronx wants to prove himself worthy of the lightweight belt (up to 70,3kg). Champion since May 2021, the Tupiniquim is fighting against the former owner of the interim belt, Dustin poirier.

MMA legend, Amanda nunes is back in the bantamweight division and wants to maintain her hegemony in the bantamweight category (up to 61,2kg), assumed in 2016. This weekend, the Bahian woman shares the octagon with Julianna Pena.

In addition to Charles and Amanda, Brazil will have a real squad. Raulian paiva, Peter Munhoz, Augusto Sakai, André Sergipano, Bruno Blindado e Priscila Pedrita they also take the yellow green to the fighting field.

Even winning the lightweight title in a battle against Michael chandler, Do Bronx carries a load of distrust from fans. The favorite of Brazilian fans, the São Paulo native, however, will have a golden opportunity to, once again, prove himself as a great representative of the organization.

This weekend, Charles, in addition to making his first title defense, will have the opportunity to promote an even bigger story for his resume. If he beats Poirier, the athlete will reach the mark of 10 positive results in a row.

To achieve the feat, the champion will have the task of nullifying a motivated Dustin poirier. Former interim lightweight champion, the American is experiencing a magical moment in his career. In the 2021 season alone, the 'Diamante' achieved two remarkable triumphs, both over the legendary Conor McGregor, by knockout.

At 32 years old, Do Bronx is heading towards his 41st fight as a professional in MMA. The champion today has 31 wins, eight losses and one 'no contest'. At the same 32 years old, Poirier will make his 36th challenge in the sport. Dustin has 28 triumphs and six stumbles.

Considered an MMA legend, Amanda nunes returns to bantamweight after almost two years without acting in the category. Leader of the group since 2016, the 'Leoa' has been collecting victims and increasing her legacy with each performance.

This weekend, Nunes needs to go through Julianna Pena to continue as queen of the category. The Brazilian needs to assert her favoritism in the bookmakers and defeat yet another opponent.

Considered by many to be the best fighter of all time, Amanda hasn't known what it's like to lose since 2014. Defeated by Zingano cat more than seven years ago, the Brazilian managed to find herself again and, from then on, she became the most complete fighter in the world.

Willing to make history as one of the biggest underdogs in Ultimate, Julianna arrives for the confrontation surrounded by distrust. Very underdog for the duel, the Venezuelan has two positive results in the last four fights and, today, is third in the ranking of the under-61,2kg group.

3) Ponzinibbio has a golden chance

After returning to MMA and overcoming medical issues that interrupted his career, Santiago Ponzinibbio wants to reach its second positive result in a row. Coming from a real battle against Miguel Baeza, in June this season, the 'Argentino Gente Boa' will have a great challenge.

For UFC 269, Ultimate climbed the promising Geoff neal to try to stop Santiago's advance in the welterweight division (up to 77kg.). The confrontation takes place amidst a controversy involving the Argentine's opponent. Last week, Neal was arrested for drunk driving, but remains confirmed at the event.

A standout in the category led by Usman before his medical problems, Ponzinibbio will have the opportunity to resume his dream of a title fight in the group. Today, the fighter has 32 appearances as a professional in MMA, 28 triumphs and four setbacks. Geoff, in turn, has 13 triumphs and four stumbles.

Former bantamweight champion, cody garbrandt is one of the company’s highlights. This weekend, the executioner of Dominick Cruz in 2016 he will make his long-awaited debut in flyweight (up to 56,7kg).

With morale in the company, due to his time as champion of the under-61,2kg group, the North American faces sixth place in the category of Brandon Moreno. Kai Kara France is the fighter chosen to try to prevent 'No Love' from arriving with prestige in the new organization. A positive result from the former champion could make the fighter 'jump the queue' for a title fight.

After making a good impression on his bantamweight debut, Raulian paiva received a 'gift' from the UFC. Even without being selected to face a ranked opponent, the Brazilian faces the company's 'darling', Sean O'Malley.

Even if a positive result does not give the Brazilian a prominent place among the group's elite, Paiva will once again enter the organization's radar.

In addition to From the Bronx, Amanda nunes e Raulian paiva, Brazil will have five more representatives on the preliminary card.

In the search for recovery in roosters, Peter Munhoz, again, there will be no 'teaspoon' in Ultimate. Coming from defeat to José Aldo, the athlete, this time, faces the former champion of the group, Dominck Cruz, who is also looking to resume the good moment in his career.

Reaching his third commitment for Ultimate this season, Bruno Blindado is back. Known for his knockout power, the Brazilian tries to assert his fame and has as rival Jordan wright.

In your first challenge after finishing Ronaldo Jacare, André Sergipano he can expand his good moment and advance in the organization’s middleweight division (up to 83,9kg). This Saturday, Minas Gerais faces Erik Anders.

Despite not having made the weight by around 1,3kg., Priscila Pedrita remains confirmed on the show. Representative of the flyweights, the Brazilian is trying for the third consecutive triumph in the company against Gillian robertson.
