“I have decided to stop pursuing this opportunity and have no intention of continuing to fight. I felt better than ever in my last fight and I know I could have other great performances. But after 18 confrontations, with a few 'wars,' I know in my heart, for my mental health in the future, that I shouldn't be in those 'wars anymore,” Spencer said.

Mature to deal with such a delicate subject, Felicia speaks confidently about the decision.

“In the world of fighting, nothing is guaranteed. I proved to myself that I don't give up inside the cage. So I need to protect myself by just not going up there anymore. I think about myself and my family in 25 years. Mental health is of great importance in my family,” she concluded.

Spencer's career in MMA

With 12 appearances as a professional in MMA, Spencer experienced her best moments between 2018 and 2020. Just over three years ago, the Canadian won the featherweight title at Invicta FC by submitting Pam Sorenson. Afterwards, the fighter was immediately called up to the UFC, where she debuted in the victory over Megan anderson.

Afterwards, Spencer was chosen to face what, at the moment, would be the biggest challenge of her career: facing Chris Cyborg for the UFC featherweight belt. Against the Brazilian legend, in July 2019, Felicia had no chance. The combatant was canceled and was defeated by the unanimous decision of the judges.

The Canadian would have another opportunity to make history in Ultimate. After recovering from his stumble against Cyborg in 2019, Spencer beat Zarah Fairn Dos Santos and qualified to face another legend: Amanda nunes. Against the 'Leoa', Felicia lost again, also by points.

Spencer's last fight with UFC gloves took place on November 13th. On that occasion, the former Invicta FC champion knocked out Leah Letson, ending her career in MMA with nine victories and three setbacks.
