“I'm confident to fight him, regardless of whether he uses jiu-jitsu or not. I don't get nervous and I don't feel pressure. A fight is a fight, you know? It's simple and normal. He is a very good fighter because he is the champion now, but I will have the belt back,” said Horiguchi.

Bellator's bantamweight leader in 2019, the Japanese was dethroned after suffering a serious injury that prevented him from defending his title. In the same year, Horiguchi moved to the Rizin event and had two fights against Kai Asakura, where he won one defeat and one victory. In September 2021, the former champion returned to his old home and was chosen to challenge the new 'king' Sergio Pettis. Kyoji has a record of 29 triumphs and three setbacks in professional MMA.
