Active as a commentator and major UFC personality, Joe Rogan has been close to countless athletes who contributed to the popularization of mixed martial arts, but he highlighted Royce gracie as the greatest in history. In his podcast, the North American stated that the Brazilian managed to make the sport important by facing and beating bigger fighters and fighters from other disciplines.

“He was the guy who introduced everyone to the idea that you could be a smaller person with superior technique and win a huge, no-holds-barred competition with giant people. What he did was show people that you can win with technique. Not because he's big, not because he's strong, but because he knows something that other people don't know. Suddenly, martial art became interesting for really smart people. He is the most important martial arts figure of all time,” said Rogan, in conversation with Snoop Dogg.
