Interim bantamweight champion, Petr Yan ignores Sterling and, in a defiant tone, provokes the former division champion

After winning the interim bantamweight belt (up to 61,2kg) at UFC 267, Petr yan seems unwilling to follow the group's natural trajectory: the unification of the title. Accredited to face aljamain sterling for the absolute throne of the category. On his social networks, the Russian indicated a challenge to TJ Dillashaw, former 'owner' of the division.

“How’s your recovery, old trickster?” wrote Petr, in his account on Twitter.

Back in MMA after serving a two-year suspension for doping, Dillashaw returned to Ultimate in 2021 with a victory over Cory Sandhagen. The former champion, however, ended up undergoing knee surgery and could return to action in 2022.

Victorious against Sandhagen himself in the fight for the interim belt, Yan still doesn't know when his next challenge will be. The athlete, however, has already shown disinterest in the rematch against Sterling on some occasions.

In March, the Russian ended up losing the throne after landing an illegal knee on Aljamain. Frequent injuries to the new champion prevented the rematch from happening in the current season.
