Makhachev celebrates his performance at UFC 267, says he deserves a title shot and bets on Poirier winning against Do Bronx

Even though I just won Dan Hooker No. UFC 267 last Saturday (30), Islam makhachev really believes that he has done everything to prove that he deserves a shot at the lightweight title (up to 70,3kg.). In an exclusive post-event interview, the Russian highlights that he is on a nine-fight winning streak and could have his chance in the next fight.

“I think I deserve this (title fight) now. When Chandler beat Hooker, the UFC gave him a title shot. And now I won't have a chance? I have a nine-fight winning streak and I really think I deserve a chance,” said Makhachev.

It does not stop there. The Russian was even subtle when saying that he believes in a victory for Dustin poirier about Charles of the Bronx and wants to face him for the division belt next.

“I think Poirier will win (Charles of the Bronx) Oliveira and, as things change very quickly, I will wait. I feel good, because I showed my level. Many people will say that my opponent (Dan Hooker) doesn’t have a good ground game, but I don’t agree with that”, he concluded.

At 30, Islam makhachev got closer to a title shot by beating Dan Hooker with a kimura in the first round. The pupil of Khabib Nurmagomedov, now, has a record of 21 wins and just one loss in his professional career.
