With the victory, Harrison defended the category throne initially won in 2019. In addition to the belt and the dream check of US$1 million (around R$5,5 million), the athlete defended her unbeaten career.
The new triumph amplified Kayla's big moment. Now, the two-time Olympic champion judoka has 12 positive results in a row.
After beating three opponents in a row and earning the right to face Harrison in the grand final, Guardado came up against the talent of one of the best representatives of female MMA in the recent history of the sport. Against the North American, the 'challenger' produced little and was easy prey for the opponent's 'sharp ground'.
The fight
In the opening seconds, Guardado attacked Harrison with punch combinations. Harrison went into a grappling fight and then took his rival to the ground. On top, Kayla struck her opponent and tried to impose her rhythm. The PFL star conquered the transitions and remained in an advantageous position. Two minutes later, Harrison attempted a Kimura, but Taylor defended himself. The champion continued to punish her opponent and sought to end the confrontation at all costs. Guardado protected himself as best he could, but didn't show any reaction. In the final minute, Guardado managed to take advantage of a distraction from his opponent and stayed on his feet. Close to the end of the stage, the company's star managed a nice takedown and continued punching until the round came to an end.
In the second stage, Harrison continued to act confidently and scored over his opponent with low and high kicks. Even before the first minute, the champion took down her opponent again and had time to end the duel. From top to bottom, Kayla attacked her opponent, who only protected herself. The advantage remained with the champion, who crushed her opponent, giving her no chance of recovery. Guardado tried to explode, but the two-time Olympic champion's control was total. The seconds passed and Taylor just covered her face. Kayla got to mount and escaped to the armbar. With no chance, Guardado was left to withdraw.
