Dana White praises Demian, but still leaves Brazilian away from fight against St. Pierre

Demian Maia He has established himself as one of the main welterweights today. However, the president of Ultimate, Dana White, still does not see the Brazilian as a candidate for the division title, currently held by the Canadian Georges St Pierre.

At the press conference after the show, the director stated that he will wait for UFC 158, an event that takes place on March 16, to choose Demian's next opponent.

“It was a great victory for Maia, but Jon Fitch lost two of his last three fights. After this event in Montreal (UFC 158), which has several fighters in this category, I will find Demian’s next opponent,” said White.

In addition to GSP and Nick Diaz, UFC 159 also brings Carlos Condit,  Rory McDonald, Jake ellenberger e John hendricks as well-ranked welterweights in the division.
