Infographic: Hendricks landed more blows, but St. Pierre was more forceful

The fight that marked the celebrations of Ultimate's 20th anniversary ended in controversy. In the main attraction of UFC 167, Canadian Georges St. Pierre and North American Johny Hendricks fought an intense, balanced duel full of alternations. In the end, the champion prevailed in a split decision from the judges and successfully defended his welterweight title.

The decision did not please a large part of the public and even Dana White, president of the franchise, who saw the challenger's triumph. According to the duel numbers, Hendricks landed more strikes, 142 against 125. But, on the other hand, GSP was the one who struck more significantly. The Canadian landed 101 hard-hitting blows and took 85.

On the other hand, takedowns are another factor of balance in the fight. St. Pierre managed to take down his rival on three occasions, two of which in the fifth round. But the Canadian was thrown onto his back twice.
