Joanne calderwood dominated Ariane Lipski in the three rounds and beat the Brazilian by unanimous decision at UFC Brooklyn, Saturday (19). In a press conference after the event, the president of Ultimate, Dana White praised 'JoJo's good performance in New York. However, the organization's leader does not seem to be convinced that it deserves to compete for the flyweight title at this moment and has chosen Jessica Eye as the next opponent of Valentina Shevchenko.
“At first, we said we would fight (for the flyweight belt) with Jessica Eye. I think Eye is next. […] Lipski, coming off nine straight wins, world champion in another organization, with a lot of hype behind her… We pitted her against a cunning and audacious veteran. (Calderwood) showed what he was capable of and was incredible tonight. 'Jojo' was incredible. She had the perfect fight,” said White.
Eye is ranked first in the women's flyweight rankings. Jessica comes from three consecutive victories in Ultimate. In her last engagement, the North American won Katlyn chookagian by points at UFC 231 in December last year. 'Evil' has 20 fights in his career, with 14 triumphs and six setbacks.
Calderwood occupies 10th place in the category ranking. She has two consecutive victories in the organization over the Brazilians, Kalindra Faria and Lipski. 'JoJo' has a record of 16 fights, with 13 triumphs and three setbacks.
