The former featherweight Diego Brandao, now fighting at lightweight, continues to claim victims in spectacular fashion in Russia. The controversial former UFC fighter had debuted outside of Ultimate with a helicopter armbar and now achieved a brutal knockout in his second fight in Europe against Vener Galiev at Fight Night Globals, a Russian event that has already featured other Brazilians, such as Fabio Maldonado, which tied with Fedor Emelianenko last year.

Brandão got the victory just 39 seconds into the fight, hitting his opponent with an overhand right and then knocking him out on the ground, when he followed up with ground and pound after Machaev had been knocked down.
Diego Brandao became known to the MMA public for being the first Brazilian to win an edition of The Ultimate Fighter, when he became champion of TUF 14. Controversial outside the octagon, he was arrested for fighting in a nightclub in the United States, where he trains with names from the caliber of Donald Cerrone, Jon Jones e Carlos Condit. After his arrest, he was fired from the UFC and has been recovering his career in Russia. In Ultimate, he even fought featherweights like Conor McGregor, Dennis Bermudez and Darren Elkins.
