Conor McGregor it is, in fact, a star that transcends octagons. Further proof of this is that 'Time' magazine included the Irishman in its traditional list of the 100 most influential personalities in the world, published annually. The UFC lightweight champion was the only athlete mentioned in the 'Pioneers' category.

In addition to McGregor, other athletes were mentioned in different categories, such as Neymar, LeBron James, Tom Brady, Simone Biles and Colin Kaepernick. In total, the 100 personalities were distributed among the categories “Pioneers”, “Artists”, “Leaders”, “Titans” and “Icons”.
Star Arnold Schwarzenegger, responsible for presenting the list, wrote an introductory text for the fighter.
"Conor McGregor He is more than a fighter, more than an athlete, and even more than a champion, for being the first person in history to hold two UFC belts simultaneously. He is something different. He is one of those rare personalities who becomes bigger than his sport. That slender and compact body must have difficulty containing his enormous character.
From the first time I had contact with Conor, I knew that he is not the type of star that can be confined to just one category. From the moment I met him, I can say that what you see on TV – in the now familiar figure of mixed martial arts – is just the tip of the iceberg. This Dublin-born guy is sharp, disciplined and charismatic. His energy is absolutely contagious, to the point where it makes you almost scream in his now world-famous Irish accent after listening to him for just 30 seconds.
Conor has a fire in his belly that cannot be smothered by world champion belts. There are no brakes that can stop his engine.”
