The rooster champion, Amanda nunes, did not like the refusal to Valentina Shevchenko to face her in Rio de Janeiro and provoked her next opponent. The Lioness used social media to challenge the Kyrgyz athlete to a duel at UFC 212, which takes place at the HSBC Arena, on June 3, but “Bullet” countered, saying that he will only face her from June onwards.

According to Shevchenko, Ultimate offered Amanda a fight in April, but the Brazilian declined, as she is on vacation and using her time away from the octagon to make appearances on national and international programs. Amanda wasn't happy to know that Valentina won't be ready again until July.
“A challenger doesn’t choose the day. A challenger just has to fight”, countered the Brazilian, who made her first defense of the belt she won at UFC 200, in July 2016, against the former champion Ronda Rousey, in December, knocking out the American in just 48 seconds.
Shevchenko earned the right to challenge the Lioness with two consecutive victories against tough opponents: first she beat the former owner of the belt Holly holm by decision and then finalized Julianna Pena. Valentina and Amanda faced each other in January last year, with the Brazilian winning, as she suffered gas in the third round, after dominating the initial two rounds.
