Coming from a frustrating No Contest in his career, the Brazilian Gesias Cavalcante He already has a date and opponent set for his next Strikeforce engagement. The organization's directors announced today (07) that the lightweight will face the North American Lyle Beerbohm No. Strikeforce: Fedor vs. henderson, edition scheduled for
this 30th in the United States.
After a period of nine months of inactivity, Gesias faced American Justin Wilcox last month at Strikeforce: Overeem vs. Werdum. In the second round of the fight, the Brazilian accidentally hit his opponent with his finger in the eye. Doctors examined Wilcox and, as the athlete was unable to continue the fight, the fight was determined to be No Contest.
In turn, Beerbohm is coming off two consecutive defeats in his career. After being surpassed by his compatriot Pat Healy, at Strikeforce Challengers 14, the North American was submitted by the Japanese Shinya Aoki in the first round of the fight held at Strikeforce: Diaz vs. Daley, which took place last April.
O Strikeforce: Fedor vs. henderson will have as its main attraction the confrontation between the Russian Fedor Emelianenko and the event's light heavyweight champion Dan Henderson. The fight will be in the heavyweight category, therefore, the North American's title will not be at stake.
