Executioner of Max Holloway in 2013, Conor McGregor he revived, even if from afar, the old rivalry with the Hawaiian from his featherweight days (up to 65,7kg.). Keeping an eye on UFC Las Vegas 42 on TV, the 'Notório' was filmed in an unusual scene, in which it 'replaces' Yair Rodriguez and pretends to face his former opponent. The scene spread across social media and attracted attention.

In the images released by 'Sexto Round', (see below) it is possible to see Conor walking from one side to the other, as he does when he climbs into the octagon. The former two-time Ultimate champion seemed to take the moment seriously, and didn't take his eyes off Holloway.
With his eyes fixed on the clash, McGregor ended up watching one of the best clashes of the season. Over the course of 25 minutes of fighting, Holloway and Rodriguez left it all in the Octagon. After five rounds, the Hawaiian was declared the winner with a unanimous decision by the judges.
Attentive to the most important things happening in the UFC, Conor is recovering from a serious injury suffered in the clash against Dustin poirier, in July 2021. At the time, the Irishman ended up fracturing his ankle and will only return to action next season.
